WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA- I’ve been photographing the WeHo Pride Parade for years now, and every time I raise my camera to capture its energy, I’m reminded why this tradition matters so deeply. It’s more than a celebration—it’s a declaration. A vivid, unapologetic expression of identity, resistance, and love. For me, as a straight man and an ally, it’s always been a privilege to stand behind the lens and document the people, organizations, and spirit that turn Santa Monica Boulevard into a vibrant runway of joy and visibility.

This year’s WeHo Pride Parade marched on Sunday, June 1, 2025, stepping off promptly at 12 p.m. from N. Crescent Heights Boulevard along Santa Monica Boulevard and ending near N. Robertson—with music, dance, colorful floats, festive contingents, and that creative flair that defines West Hollywood’s signature celebration.
One of the most inspiring parts of the day was the announcement of this year’s WeHo Pride Parade Icons: star model and actor Cara Delevingne, named Guardian Icon; Emmy-nominated Nava Mau serving as Trailblazer Icon; Next Gen Icon Pari Kim from Love on the Spectrum; and former NFL punter Chris Kluwe, honored as Ally Icon . Their roles underscore how deeply WeHo roots Pride in visibility, advocacy, and representation.

What I love most about this parade isn’t just the star power—it’s the people. It’s the marchers from grassroots organizations proudly representing queer youth, trans rights, BIPOC advocacy, healthcare access, and every intersection in between. It’s the leather daddies walking side by side with faith-based allies. It’s the corporate floats where employees dance with rainbow flags, and it’s the drag queens serving looks in 90-degree heat. It’s the dancers, the roller skaters, the activists, the families. Everyone shows up and shows out.
As a photographer, I approach each shot with reverence. These aren’t just photos for social feeds—they’re records. Archives of joy, struggle, pride, and history-in-motion. The personalities and characters who fill these frames—some who’ve marched for decades, others showing up for the first time—are writing the story of what a truly inclusive community looks like. And that’s something worth preserving.

There’s a line of sight that runs from the first Pride marches to this one. And though the sound systems have gotten louder and the floats flashier, the message remains: We’re here. We matter. And we’re not going anywhere.
To the LGBTQ+ community—thank you for letting me bear witness once again. This is your moment. And as long as you keep marching, I’ll keep showing up to document it with all the admiration and gratitude it deserves.
