AUSTIN, TX- RVG is an Australian post-punk band which formed in 2015 consisting of Romy, Marc Nolte, Reuben Bloxham and Isabele Wallace. RVG’s debut album, “A Quality of Mercy”, was released in 2017. They released their second album “Feral” when the pandemic came about which showcased the band’s ability move past their influences to create a record they call their best. This year, despite the challenges of the past two years, RVG released “Brain Worms” which is a testament to the band’s skill, confidence, and dedication to their craft.
Emotive lyrics, a gritty post-punk sound and a totally raw performance by band leader, writer and guitarist Romy Vager charmed the audience at the outdoor venue where many fellow Australians showed to support the band. The quartet played a tight and vigorous set beginning though it was later revealed their drummer injured himself during the performance and their subsequent show had to be canceled. Luckily, I was there for the last one they played during SXSW.
