Liam Finn's Unbridled Energy Won Over The Ohana Fest [PHOTOS]

Dana Point, CA- Liam Finn. Wow. This guy was something else. A one man act, who rocked both the drums and guitar, he amazed The Ohana Fest crowd with his unbridled and charismatic energy.

The son of Crowded House frontman Neil Finn, it would appear that music truly runs through his veins. Even as a one man band, I could hear the musicality in his smartly arranged compositions and definitely took note of his seemingly innate knack of writing catchy lyrics and melodic lines.

While he was fully capable on the guitar, showcasing his fuzzy guitar skills, his state of being while smashing his drum kit was simply mesmerizing. You could see … and feel… the music and rhythms pulse from his soul, through his body and onto his instrument.

And while his performance demonstrated a professional intensity, there was also a casual feel to it as well. With his family and friends sitting on the stage while he performed (his son wearing the big blue headphone was pretty damn adorable), he gave his performance a familial warmth that drew the audience even closer to him.

Towards the end of his set, Neil announced to the audience that he was “going to play a beckoning … a beckoning of Vedder.”

Attendees began to howl with excitement as Mr. Vedder emerged from the wings, carefully removing his watch, his ring and anything else that would get in the way of the electric guitar he soon strapped on. The two then dove into an inspired performance of Pearl Jam’s “Habit” which clearly was the icing on a cake that already tasted pretty damn good.
