LOS ANGELES, CA- Foreign pop artists have been dominating the U.S. music market for many years now, with acts from countries such as Canada, the United Kingdom, and South Korea achieving massive success and winning over American audiences. One reason for this trend is the globalization of music through streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music, which have made it easier for artists from all over the world to reach a wider audience. Additionally, social media has made it easier for fans to discover and follow artists from different countries and share their music with others.

In recent years, South Korean pop music, or K-pop, has become particularly popular in the United States, with groups such as BTS and BLACKPINK achieving chart-topping success and selling out stadiums on their U.S. tours. K-pop has a unique sound and style that has won over fans with its infectious beats, colorful music videos, and energetic live performances. It’s worth noting that Belgium also has a growing music scene that’s gaining international attention.

In 2020, British singer-songwriter Dua Lipa released the chart-topping single “Fever.” The song is a catchy pop track with a disco-inspired beat and features the performance of the then up-and-coming artist Angèle Van Laeken, also known as “Angèle,” with the artists singing in both English and French. While she was already very popular regionally with viral hits in France and Belgium, and winning numerous awards, including the Victoires de la Musique award for Female Artist of the Year in 2019, the collaboration with Dua Lipa brought her global attention.

In April 2023, Angèle has scheduled a performance for her adoring fans at The Novo in Los Angeles, between her weekend performances at Coachella.
