RECAP: If there was a performance at Music Tastes Good that truly had me longing for more, it was Cody Chesnutt’s. Another unfortunate casualty of the shortened set times due to the festival doors opening late, Cody Chesnutt’s 45 minute scheduled performance was trimmed down to less than 30 minutes. And that was a shame, because if there is a soul artist who can really get down and intimate with a crowd, it’s Mr. Chesnutt.

But the seasoned performer took every second of his limited time, and maximized it to its utmost potential. After singing a couple of songs, Cody wasted no time in connecting with the crowd and getting them to get a little soul-infusion that afternoon.

Jumping off the stage during his performance, Cody sang to, and danced with, members in the audience. Every outreached hand found Cody’s, and during songs that focused on community and love, embraces were exchanged. I scanned the crowd and noticed that even the very young were dancing to the soulful melodies of Cody Chesnutt, proving to me that, even in his limited time, Cody was undoubtedly connecting with everybody.
