LOS ANGELES, CA- I don’t know where she came from, or how she got her start … or even her real name … but ever since I caught her performing an opening set for Lauren Ruth Ward, I’ve been hooked on VŌX. She was one of my favorite acts who performed for LRW’s residency and she was also of my favorite acts to take the stage at Broke L.A, and I’m pretty sure she became many of the attendee’s new “favorite” after her performance.
As she gently stepped towards center stage of the Regent Theater, the train of her signature, vintage white bridal gown flowed. As if she needed more mysticism added to her already mysterious aura, an electronic fan made her veil flutter delicately around her face making her seem magical at times.
Her music is equally ethereal. If you doubt the claim, just have a listen.
As a fan of her music and her performance, I can only look forward to see and hear what artistic steps she takes. I can only image the beautiful spectacle that she can conjure once she is given full autonomy over her lighting and stage production. I can only image how visceral and alive her music will become when she adds live musicians to join her journey on stage. With her recent acceptance to participate in the Red Bull Music Academy in Berlin, I’m sure she’ll be given the opportunity to explore and discover new sonics to make her an even greater force in the synth rock/pop genre.
