LOS ANGELES, CA- The first band I was able to catch play at Broke L.A. was Ugly Sweaters. This band was a lot of fun. Their catchy indie rock with surf rock vibes kept the mood light-hearted and had festival-goers who were looking for shade from the afternoon sun nodding their heads to the beat.
I noticed a couple of familiar faces in Ugly Sweaters. Alex Pfender (guitar) and Ian Meltzer (drums) of Yoya were jamming with Mandla and Claire Daley, and they played a lot of the tracks that they released on their 2016 EP “Dancing Shoes”.
And dance I did! These guys were a great way to start my festivaling. Their energy was infectious and as they briskly performed their uptempo melodies, I couldn’t help but smile and shuffle my feet to their tunes as I tried to capture that energy in photos.
