LONG BEACH, CA- Reggae fans love Iration, and One Love Cali Reggae Fest satisfied those fan’s Iration cravings by giving them a double serving of Iration over the One Love Weekend. Though I was only able to watch their performance on Saturday, I understand that their setlist’s for each night were basically the same.
On Saturday, however, they did invite KNOWAKING from Tyrone’s Jacket and J Boog to the stage for the debut of the new song “Danger” (see the found Youtube video below) . Having released the single “Fly with Me” last year, it would seem clear that the band is obviously in the process of writing music for a new album. “Danger” sounds like Iration is experimenting with new sonics, perhaps dipping their toes into the hip-hop realm a bit. Where their last album “Hotting Up” seemed to hit the “rock” edge harder, perhaps they’re going to lean more “rap” on their next album. Only time will tell.
Iration concluded their sets Saturday and Sunday with a reggae tinged cover of Tom Petty’s “May Jane’s Last Dance” which was perhaps the best double entendre of the weekend.
