#FBF: Single Mothers Performance Gave Los Angeles Our Pleasure THOUGHTS+PHOTOS: SINGLE MOTHERS @ THE EL REY 2/23/18
LOS ANGELES, CA- When Enter Shikari came through Los Angeles, one of the bands opening up for them was the London, Ontario based punk band Single Mothers.
Last year, Single Mothers released their sophomore album “Our Pleasure”. It’s ten cuts of dynamic punk covers the spectrum of attitude. From brash and cutting to polished and melodic, “Our Pleasure” was an enjoyable listen that’s worth multiple listens not only for its sonics, but also for its punk attitude.
Single Mother’s gave an equally enjoyable a free-wheeling and spirited performance at the El Rey that surely earned them some stateside fans. Frontman vocalist Drew Thompson, with his wry smile, had a mischievous glint in his eye throughout the performance and gave the music a punch with attitude he expressed in his stage movement and vocal tone. Backed by full bass-lines and frantic drums, the band’s sonics rattled the chandeliers hanging in the room, and kicked started served as the perfect appetizer for the headlining set of the evening.
