San Bernardino, CA- Everyone loves a comeback, and the Knotfest crowd gave one of the pioneers of Southern California metalcore, Eighteen Visions, a heroes welcome as soon as they stepped onto the main stage. The band’s return to any stage seemed like wishful thinking. Though there was hope that a reunion would happen earlier this decade, the proposition seemed out of the question when their bassist Mick Morris passed away in 2013 due to a heart attack.
But band saw to it that the dream came to fruition, announcing on February 9, 2017 that remaining member were regrouping, and further announced on April 20, 2017 that a new album would be released in June. After playing several a handful of gigs following the album’s release, they came to Knotfest to reintroduce themselves to the masses.
On a dimly lit stage shrouded in fog, Eighteen Visions let their music do the shouting. Lead singer James Hart’s raging howl accompanied by a barrage of insanely aggressive guitar licks and thunderous drums slapped anybody who dared doze off awake. The stage production also added to the visceral nature of the performance. It was a truly adrenaline pumping spectacle.
If anybody had forgotten about Eighteen Visions, this performance definitely served as a loud reminder.
