I left Julia Holter’s set a bit early so that I could check out the hip hop group that combines a member of the Wu-Tang Clan (RZA) and Interpol (Paul Banks): Banks & Steelz. They’ve been collaborating for a few years, but just released their debut studio album, “Anything But Words”, two days before their appearance at FYF.
As I walked closer to their stage, I heard some reggae vibes emanating from their performance area. As they wrapped up that song and I got settled, they introduced the talent Donnie Trumpet to accompany them on “Love + War”. The special guests didn’t stop there, as for their performance of “Sword in the Stone” they brought on stage the NYC rapping legend Kool Keith.
