G.Smith’s Broke L.A. Performance Has Me Anxiously Waiting for More THOUGHTS+PHOTOS: G.Smith @ REGENT THEATRE | BROKE LA 4/21/18
LOS ANGELES, CA- There’s isn’t too much music (or info) out about the electronic singer/songwriter G.Smith, but her short performance at Broke L.A. piqued my interest in her and now I eagerly waiting for her to drop some more music.
As far as I can tell, she has only released three singles, with her last single released 8 months ago. It’s called “Painkiller” and is a sweeping track of glitchy, pulse driven electronics that highlight her confidently rich vocals.
Packed tightly in a narrow and crowded room, I truly felt like G.Smith’s experimental pop was larger than the venue itself. It was a blast of sonics that seemed better suited for a legit stage than a corner of a room.
G.Smith’s performance, like her music, was filled with a spirit and energy that was infectious. Though the subject matter and tone of G.Smith’s music may have sounded a bit ominous, she was all smiles, simply happy to be performing her art in front of an appreciative audience, which included myself.
With a cryptic Facebook message of “So. Soon.” on April 24, I’m anxiously waiting to hear what she’s got planned next.
