Dana Point, CA- I don’t know too much about Conner Youngblood, but based on what I was able to catch at The Ohana Fest, he’s a singer that seems to embody the essence Laule’a (which is Hawaiian for “peaceful, happy”).

Dressed casually in athletic shorts and a t-shirt, Conner was a one man band, looping keyboard and guitar licks together to create a lush sonic bed for his delicately lovely vocals.

The mood during his performance was one of serenity and peace, giving the early afternoon Ohana Fest crowd a pleasant soundtrack to enjoy as they lay on the grass in front of the stage. I particularly enjoyed when he performed acoustic versions of his songs as those performances really exhibited the overall relaxed mood that his performance embodied.

In an amusing observation, during his performance, his dog joined him on stage for a handful of songs, sprawling his big shepherd body on the stage to enjoy his master’s music. During one of Conner’s more “aggressive” songs, Conner joked that, “[his] dog hates this part of the song,” and on cue the his dog got up and left the stage.
