WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA—Three years ago, I had my first encounter with Zee Machine, and I boldly proclaimed, “If Zee Machine’s music foreshadowed what we were to expect for the rest of the evening, the bar was set high. It would have to be pop-perfection and nothing less.” Fast forward to Outloud Fest for WeHo Pride, and I was eager to see if my initial assessment held true. Spoiler alert: it did.
Zee Machine took the stage with an infectious energy that was palpable from the get-go. His set was short but packed with power-pop punches, delivering seven songs that each had the crowd bopping along without a moment’s pause. It was a performance that reminded me why I had been so taken with him in the first place.
The setlist, which included tracks like “Honeydew,” “Tired,” and “Better Off,” showcased Zee Machine’s knack for crafting earworms that linger long after the music stops. Each song was a testament to his innate pop music charisma, the kind that can’t be trained or manufactured. It’s the “it” factor that makes Zee Machine stand out in a crowded field of pop hopefuls.
From the first note to the last, Zee Machine’s performance demonstrated his ability to command a large stage and enthrall an audience—even an early afternoon audience. His vocals were on point, his stage presence electric, and his connection with the audience was undeniable. There’s a reason why Zee Machine has been steadily gaining social media followers, and its performances like this that cement his follower’s reasons for joining the bandwagon.
As I watched Zee Machine captivate the Outloud Fest crowd, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of validation. My initial instincts about his talent were spot on. In addition to his pop-star charisma, Zee Machine has the rare gift of crafting amazingly catchy… at least to me… pop melodies. And it’s so much more than that because it’s not just about hitting the right notes or having a catchy chorus—it’s also about having that elusive human quality that draws people in and keeps them coming back for more. Zee Machine is the real deal, and I hope that his star only keeps rising.
