LOS ANGELES, CA- Just days prior to releasing their first new single since 2016 (“There’s A Reason”) after the departure of Marty Sulkow, Wet returned to Los Angeles for a main stage performance in the late afternoon of Air + Style.
Their performance also included a handful of newly written tracks- which new music will most likely be embodied on their sophomore album which will mostly likely be released later this year. It was a soothing performance that highlighted the smooth R&B sonics that made The Fader take note of them as a band to keep a serious eye on in 2015.
While still chill, the new music seems to be a little less downtempo than their earlier works like “Turn Away” and “It’s All In Vain”. There’s still a sensually emotional undertone in the new songs they performed- Kelly’s softly delicate voice does lend itself to that kind of vibe- but the rhythms feel slightly more urgent and lively.
While the mid-afternoon set-time on a slightly chilly day may not have been the most ideal setting for their tranquil sonics, having recently announced a domestic spring tour fans will have the chance to catch Wet in an intimate 300-500 capacity setting that will only add to their aura (I’m spying the June 3rd Masonic Lodge date).
