The french duo AIR (Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoit Dunkel) are the definition of mood music. Sensual …. ethereal … atmospheric … their music is like … well … like air. They haven’t released any “new” music since 2012, but with their latest compilation album commemorating their 20 years of creating music (“Twentyears” which includes some previously unreleased recordings), they are touring and treated Los Angeles with an appearance at FYF.
Their music put everyone in a relaxed state of mind, with many people smoking medicinal substances and laying sprawled out on the Lawn Stage lawn. If there was a set on this day at FYF to space out to and just get absorbed into the music, this was it. I didn’t stay for their entire set, but whenever you get the chance to see a band who really impacted a certain genre of music, you can’t not go. I had to at least experience them live for a little bit. After all, their music did refine the electronic music spectrum.
