The City Of West Hollywood Has Its Inaugural Pride Parade PHOTO GALLERY: WEHO PRIDE PARADE
LOS ANGELES, CA- On Sunday, June 5th, the city of West Hollywood had its first Pride parade since disassociating from L.A. Pride. You could say that this would be its inaugural Pride parade. Starting at North Crescent Heights Boulevard and ending at North Robertson Boulevard, around where the entrance for the music festival was, the parade started at noon and continued until the last group of paraders made their way to the end.
Singer Janelle Monáe served as the grand marshal, and reality star JoJo Siwa, a new So You Think You Can Dance? judge, who came out as gay to her followers in 2021, was anointed the “Next Gen Icon” for the parade.
But Janelle and JoJo weren’t the only high-profile celebrities to make their appearance on the parade route. We happened to randomly catch Cardi B on a sponsored float spraying what I beleive was alchohol-flavored whipped cream into the mouths of fans who crept up near her.
The Pride parades in West Hollywood are always fun to attend. Vibrant moods and colors. Smiles all around. I only caught the tail end of the parade, but it’s always a joy to capture the joy, in the faces of people marching together while openly expressing themselves. Young to old. Black to white. Everything in between. It’s always a pleasure.
