LOS ANGELES, CA- Sera Timms discography is filled with heavy and hard hitting doom rock sonics. From Black Math Horseman to Ides of Gemini, Sera’s haunting vocals have always complimented some heavy guitar distortion amidst a metal haze. With Black Mare, Ms. Timms embarks on a solo venture once again conjuring her dark and nervy atmosphere. Accompanied by Brandon and Cameron of Glaare and a badass bassist with a badass goatee, Sera took the Moroccan Lounge stage to perform a set that featured music from her latest EP, “Death Magick Mother”.
Sera’s entrance was as dramatic as her music. Blindfolded, she was escorted slowly onstage by one of her bandmates. Singing her couple songs blind and stoic gave the performance a palpable intensity. With only the music overwhelming her senses, Sera allowed for the emotions of the music to consume the venue. She sang powerfully with directive, casting enchanting the audience with her aura.
Once the blindfold came off, the mysticism continued. As the dark wave soundscape the played behind her, she moved her body deliberately to the music. Her hands were particularly mesmerizing. Whether she was wearing her long white gloves or wielded her long sharp nails, her hands were moving as if she was casting a continuous spell on the audience as she sang. It was theatrical and powerful and worth the price of admission.
Black Mare will be playing Psycho Las Vegas in August and Brick by Brick in San Diego in August.
