Hailing from across the hills in Sherman Oaks, CA, Jake Davis was the winner of Santa Monica’s Emerging Artist Competition, whose prize was to be the opener for the billed acts Cibo Matto and Save Ferris. Performing alongside best friends James Harmon, Eddy Barco, and Jordan Meltzer, Mr. Davis took the stage with the swagger and confidence of a veteran.
From electronic slides to deep rock grooves, this 24 year old gave the audience a sampling of the music from his debut EP, The Valley. I was particularly taken with his cover of the Hozier song “Work Song”.
