RECAP: If you didn’t already know, Rooney is back! When I missed their show earlier this year at the Teragram Ballroom, I was bummed. After all, I had been anticipating when Robert Shwartzman would get back to recording under that band name (he has recorded a few projects as a solo artist) every time my iTunes would start playing tracks off their self titled debut album and sophomore album “Calling The World”. Though he’s changed the players around him, Robert and company are back and ready to share some new, melodic pop gems to fans old and new.
Rooney’s set was filled with a collection of their well known hits of California power pop and several cuts from their latest album (“Washed Away”) released earlier this year, including the anthemic “My Heart Beats 4U”. But one could tell that fans congregated to their stage to hear some of their “classic” hits like “When Did Your Heart Go Missing” and “I’m Shaking”, and they certainly did not let their fans down.
