Ramonda Hammer Crushes House Party With "Destroyer"

LOS ANGELES, CA- This past weekend, Ramonda Hammer celebrated the release of their critically acclaimed, Rolling Stone Magazine approved, EP “Destroyers” at Echo Park Rising.

But earlier in the month, Blurred Culture had the privilege of attending a special house party hosted by the band to “pre-celebrate” their album’s release with free booze and a raucous yet intimate performance. The venue of the party has a special place in the band’s hearts. Devin (lead singer and guitar) and Andy (bass) lived in one of the apartments on the lot before the band got started.

For them, this location has a history and a sense of personal familiarity. With their old landlord/father figure and his family screen printing limited “Destroyers” t-shirts in one corner of the large room adorned with art and comfortable, yet unique, furniture, and the group’s instruments set up in another corner, it truly felt like a concert in a living-room.

The performance was casual and free flowing. The members would banter and joke amongst themselves as well as with their friends who were gathered around them to watch them perform. But between the smiles and laughter, they slayed and shredded through a set, destroying it (pun intended).

To say that I felt honored to be there for such and intimate gathering would be an understatement. In that moment, it kinda felt like I was part of their band … part of their extended family. Even though I only knew a handful of people in the room, there was such a communal vibe in the air that I absolutely didn’t feel out of place. Those kinds of moments are few are far between and I can only hope that there will be more of them to come in the future.
