WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA- After an excruciatingly long four-year absence from the stage, Passion Pit made a triumphant return with an explosive performance at the Outloud Festival. Formed in 2007, this alternative electro pop band burst onto the scene with their debut EP, Chunk of Change, leaving an indelible mark on the music landscape. The infectious single “Sleepyhead” garnered widespread acclaim and found its way into countless commercials, solidifying Passion Pit’s status as a powerhouse in the industry. While the group seemed to have entered a creative lull following their 2017 release, Tremendous Sea of Love, they recently breathed new life into their catalog with an expanded edition of their acclaimed album, Gossamer. This creative hiatus was partially attributed to lead singer Michael Angelakos’ courageous and public battle with mental health struggles, as well as his journey of self-acceptance as a bisexual individual.
Despite the extended hiatus, Passion Pit displayed no signs of rust as they took the stage. Over the course of 45 electrifying minutes, they treated fans to an enchanting performance, delivering all the beloved hits that had garnered a dedicated following over the years. From the mesmerizing “Constant Conversations” to the infectious energy of “Little Secrets” and the anthemic power of “I’ll Be Alright,” Passion Pit left no stone unturned. During one poignant moment of the show, Angelakos vulnerably revealed that this marked his first sober performance, an admission that initially filled him with terror. However, any trace of fear was swiftly dispelled as he bounded across the stage, leaping from platforms with infectious energy. The concert concluded with an insatiable hunger for more, as the audience yearned to witness the further artistic endeavors of Passion Pit.
