LOS ANGELES, CA-  In the ever-evolving landscape of experimental pop, Lindsey Lomis, the 21-year-old singer-songwriter, has carved out a niche that defies the ordinary. With her intricate musical arrangements and a sonic complexity that rivals the seasoned pros, Lomis has consistently wowed me with her musical instincts. Her ability to blend genres, coupled with her sharp lyricism, has made her music not just a listen but an experience. It’s no surprise then that she’s caught the eye of musical virtuoso Jacob Collier, joining his band for his upcoming tour—a move that speaks volumes about her talent and the intricate layers of her music. This collaboration alone hints at a musician whose craft is steeped in musicality and complexity, a trait that fans and critics alike have come to admire in her work.

Recently, Lindsey announced her latest project, the highly anticipated EP “Handle With Care,” set to drop on March 29th. This announcement comes alongside the release of her new single, “Long Way Down,” a track that encapsulates the essence of Lomis’s artistry. The guitar-driven pop jam serves as a testament to Lomis’s alt-rock influences, characterized by catchy vocal trills and a charisma that’s hard to ignore. “Long Way Down” delves into the complexities of love, unmasking the vulnerabilities and the highs and lows that come with it. The track stands as a bold introduction to “Handle With Care,” offering a glimpse into the depth and introspection of Lomis’s songwriting.

As Lindsey’s publicist have indicated, “Handle With Care” is more than just an EP; it’s a narrative arc that traces Lomis’s personal and artistic growth. The project is a departure from the conventional love story, offering instead a nuanced exploration of love’s multifaceted nature. Through her diaristic songwriting and a blend of genres ranging from alt-rock to nu-jazz, Lomis crafts a coming-of-age pop experience that resonates with a sense of authenticity and self-discovery. Each track on the EP showcases her musical versatility, from the virtuosic guitar grooves to the innovative pop production, all while maintaining a sound that is unmistakably her own.

I have yet to see her perform live, but hopefully I’ll be able to make that happen at some point this year either before or after she embarks on this new journey with Jacob Collier. Either way, she steps into a year full of promise, and it’s clear that Lomis is a force to be reckoned with, a star whose brightness is only set to intensify in the world of music.
