AUSTIN, TX- Immersing oneself in the vast sea of indie music often paves the way for unexpected encounters with hidden gems. One such gem that sparkled brightly for me was Bnny, the Chicago-based indie rock band. I discovered this quartet, consisting of Jess Viscius (vocals, guitar), Tim Makowski (guitar), Matt Pelkey (bass), and Adam Schubert (drums), during a live performance at Swan Dive during SXSW. Having not seen them live before, I relied on the trusty internet for the lineup information.
Bnny’s first impression was a quiet charm that radiated from their indie rock spirit. The band’s music, characterized by an ambient fusion of dreamy melodies, introspective lyrics, lo-fi indie rock, and pop, crafted an ethereal atmosphere within the concert venue. As the crowd swayed to the thoughtful lyricism and hazy guitar sounds, I was captivated by the emotional journey the band masterfully orchestrated.
Each song told a poetic story of love, loss, and self-reflection that resonated with everyone present. The band’s shows are well-known for their intimate atmosphere and the genuine connection they foster with the audience. Witnessing the crowd lose themselves in Bnny’s heartwarming and emotionally charged music was an experience to behold. I had heard about their reputation, but experiencing it firsthand added another dimension to my appreciation.
In particular, Jess Viscius and her team had a unique way of setting a mood that was thoroughly enjoyable. They created a musical experience that felt personal and deeply connected, prompting me to feel a part of their artistic journey.
In conclusion, Bnny’s performance left a lasting impression on me. Their emotional depth, atmospheric soundscape, and engaging stage presence hint at a promising future. I highly recommend keeping an eye on this band. Their unique take on indie rock and the profound connection they create with their audience are truly noteworthy.
