LOS ANGELES, CA – The 70th Annual Emmy Awards will take place on September 17, 2018, broadcasted on NBC. The best of Television will be honored for outstanding achievement. One category that I absolutely love to follow are those nominate for costume design, whether period fantasy or contemporary, these costumes designers create works of art that bring the character to life.
No other place can you get up close and personal with some of these fabulous creations, but at FIDM Museum and Galleries. From August 21 – October 6, 2018 you can attend the free exhibit and view some of the costumes of your favorite television shows. The crazy sparkly spandex leotards of Glow, the vintage fashion of the Marvelous Ms. Maisel, the regal splendor of the Crown, the quirkiness of the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmit, and the fashion of King’s Landing on Game of Thrones. The list goes on and on and guaranteed some of the costumes from your favorite shows will be on display.
I had an outstanding time looking at all the details in these creations. The stitches, the lace, the luxurious fabrics, and the faux fur. It was a cosplayers dream. I definitely want to recreate so many costumes, especially the lovely Victorian fashions of the Alienist and the Art Deco fashion of Genius: Picasso. Whether you love fashion or you just love binging on television, FIDM’S the Art of Television Costume Design Exhibit is a must see.
