EMANCIPATOR’s Downtempo Chill Is the Perfect Contrast To Bass Drops In Your Face Emancipator's Beautiful Set At Elements Fest NYC Recharged Souls
NEW YORK, NY- A breath of fresh air every I see him perform, Emancipator clearly separates himself from the rest. One of the few acts on the bill that incorporated live instruments, you can bet on hearing something unorthodox when this guy comes to town. Ambient, lo-fi electronic music is incredibly satisfying, especially following somebody like Subtronics who just drops bass in your face.
Emancipator is one of those acts where you can hardly catch the transition between songs because of how in-the-moment you are. Unlike the head banging intensity of Bassnectar or Subtronics, Emancipator brought out a violinist for his set and had everybody vibe out to gorgeous soundscapes on that incredibly foggy summer evening. It was one of those beautiful sets that recharged your soul. I feel like a lot of thought went into the curating of this festival – acts seemed to balance and compliment each other in ways that made it difficult to “get tired” of the scene. At festivals that rely heavily on the musical aspect, it’s imperative that acts don’t get too repetitive where, before you know it, the same songs are getting rinsed and you’re just tired of being on your feet. Emancipator was essential in Elements NYC being a well-balanced event, and I hope that he keeps showing New York love whenever he’s around.
