“…Flasch’s second pick to join her for this evening’s festivities was the singer/songwriter Boyu. That two had worked together for the artwork of Boyu’s single “Miata Trip”, with Flasch wearing the photo editor hat, color grading, and adding graphic design to Boyu’s art. With over 30K monthly Spotify listeners, I was keen on hosting his live performance.
I won’t lie… when I found out that he would be performing an acoustic set, I got a little worried that the DJ’s next door would interfere with, and maybe drown out, his performance. Despite some of the initial difficulties in setting up mics to get his acoustic guitar to get picked up and projected through the speakers, and some constant running back and forth to and from the doors connecting the Madame Siam stage room from the DJ’s club room, Boyu’s performance went off surprisingly well. The acoustic set really allowed Boyu’s personality to shine through. Organic, human, and earnest, the performance elevated the believability factor in the lyrics he was singing, particularly his latest single, “how is life in hollywood”, which closed his set.
In catching up with Boyu recently, he let Blurred Culture know what he’s got planned in the months ahead:
“In October, I’m releasing my debut album which will have 12 tracks essentially amalgamating my current 7 singles that are released + 3 more single releases coming in the next few months, and having 2 fresh new songs for the listener. The album will drop with an NFT collection for each song as well as a merch drop. I plan on getting physical copies (CDs, Cassettes, & Vinyls).”…”
