On her website, she cites the likes of Stevie Nicks, Joni Mitchell, and Mazzy Star as influences. You can hear tinges of those queens in her music, but BEL’s sound is unmistakably her own.
Hailing from the quaint town of Clovis, California, the backstory to her moniker — a nickname given by her four older siblings — adds a personal touch to her already intimate melodies. Her raw vocal prowess matched with vulnerable lyricism, the performance was a nice introduction to her music.
