BEL at Bleached Fest: A Glimpse into Timelessness Thoughts+Photos: Bel at Bleached Festival 2023 8/6/23
SAN DIEGO, CA- In a landscape saturated with fleeting hits and transient stars, BEL stands as a refreshing testament to what it means to be truly timeless. Gracing the Bleached Fest main stage, Bel, a Los Angeles-based gem, transported us into a realm where indie, pop, folk, and a touch of country blend seamlessly. On her website, she cites the likes of Stevie Nicks, Joni Mitchell, and Mazzy Star as influences. You can hear tinges of those queens in her music, but BEL’s sound is unmistakably her own.
Hailing from the quaint town of Clovis, California, the backstory to her moniker — a nickname given by her four older siblings — adds a personal touch to her already intimate melodies. Her raw vocal prowess matched with vulnerable lyricism, the performance was a nice introduction to her music.
The energetic hit “PBR (with girlhouse)” was a crowd favorite at Bleached Fest, and the collaboration came alive when she brought girlhouse onstage, a move that sent ripples of excitement through the crowd. As someone at the forefront of the indie wave, BEL’s performance was a clear indication of why she’s landed on multiple “Artists to Watch in ’23” lists. Glad I got to catch her perform.
