LOS ANGELES, CA- Brooklyn-based musician Barrie Lindsay is a rising star that should be on every indie music lover’s radar. Lindsay has been honing her musical talents since her childhood, and as the solo project “Barrie”, she caught my attention with her 2022 album “Barbara”.
The introspective album blends dream pop and electronica to create a unique sonic landscape that is both forward-thinking and familiar, with lush, layered instrumentation and Lindsay’s signature wispy, daydreamy vocals. The themes she explores, such as love, loss, and self-discovery, are presented with honesty and relatability, making “Barbara” a standout album.
Her latest effort, “5K”, continues to feature dreamy synth-pop elements but expands into a more cinematic soundscape that showcases Lindsay’s willingness to experiment with new sounds and styles.
I had the pleasure of seeing Barrie perform at Cheer Up Charlies, where she and her backup singers gave a spirited and fun performance complete with choreographed movements that kept the audience on their toes. With her exceptional pop music and captivatingly shy stage presence, Barrie is an artist to watch.
