“As the water’s pouring in
Like it always should have been
We can crawl or we can run
Towards the sun”
The Aussie lads, Atlas Genius, couldn’t pick a better song to start their set with at Make Music Pasadena on a rainy Saturday evening than their hit “Stockholm”.
Even in the inclement weather, the now LA-based band gave it their all to their dedicated fans who that came to rock in the rain. They rocked to everything, the new hits … the old hits … Everything. It surprised me just how much energy he band had since it seemed like the guys have been on an endless tour for quite some time now, recently accounting additional tour dates with Bear Hands (who were also playing this weekend).
The band treated the crowd with a very impressive cover of Tears for Fears’ “Everybody Want To Rule The World” and spiced-up their song “Centered On You” with “Hotline Bling” by Drake, revealing the band’s musical versatility. The vocalist/guitarist Keith Jeffery showman beyond reproach. The singer dedicated some songs to the supportive friends of the artists; thanking them for helping the band.
It was probably my 5th time seeing the band live and the guys just keep getting better with every show. It doesn’t matter if it’s a festival with thousands of fans, or a small intimate venue, or a free show, Atlas Genius gives 100% to the people who come to see them rock.
After their performance, the boys took the time to take selfies with fans that were waiting for the musicians in the rain. After some time, the clouds faded and the sun came out. I could only wonder if Atlas Genius influenced the weather to warm with their energetic performance and genial personalities.
