Valley Queen To Tour Throughout The Month of February And Announce Inclusion on BOTTLEROCK LineUp AND CHECK OUT SOME PHOTOS FROM LAST YEAR THAT WE FORGOT TO POST... D'OH!
LOS ANGELES, CA- Oi. Like I did with Sego, it would appear that I really dropped the ball towards the end of last year. Opening for Lauren Ruth Ward at the El Rey was the L.A. based band Valley Queen. Fronted by Natalie Carol, I could immediately hear why Lauren wanted this band to be on her bill. There’s a vintage, classic rock quality to Valley Queen’s sound. It’s a sound that gives you those Laurel Canyon feels from the 60s and 70s; when rock and roll was dreamy and organic.
Their debut album, Supergiant, released last year, is very solid. There’s something about Natalie’s voice which embodies both a tender fragility yet also a firm determination. I’ve listened to “Ride” sooooo many times just to hear Natalie belt out that chorus and sing that the word “ride” with that diminished note over and over again. Sooooo good.
Even though they’re still touring in support of Supergiant, they’ve noted on their social media that they’ll be performing some new tracks on their upcoming tour which starts in North Caroline on the 11th, and ends on 23rd in Nashville (for select dates they will be opening for St. Paul & The Broken Bones). They also proudly announced that they had been included in this year’s Bottlerock Festival lineup. I highly suggest you catch them before they decide to hole up in a studio to record their next album. Who knows when they’ll be back in your neck of the woods again.
