If there is a “concert guarantee” I’d be confident in making, it’s that whenever Red Bull Sound Select hosts a show at a monster venue like The Wiltern, odds are good that the headliner won’t be the only ones gracing the stage. Case in point? Snakehips when they headlined the 19th day of  “30 Days in LA”.

Snakehips are a British electronic music duo (Oliver Lee and James Carter) and they have worked with some of the hottest talent and dropped some serious bangers over the past few years. Their biggest hit, “All My Friends”, was an international smash and featured the performances of Tinashe and Chance The Rapper. Their latest EP of the same name, released earlier this year, only contained four songs, but also featured stand-out performances by Anderson.Paak, Tory Lanez and Malika, cementing their reputation and public perception that they truly have their pulse on what’s hot in popular music. Their performance at The Wiltern was proof positive of the foregoing.

Playing and mixing records under a frenetic lighting scheme that gave the Wiltern a rave-like feel, Snakehips had the audience eating out of their hands as soon as they stepped on stage. Clearly, they could have easily played a “standard set”, and everybody would have left the show satisfied. But this was a “30 Days In LA” event, and Red Bull Sound Select always has a way of making sure that the shows are always beyond memorable. How? By ensuring that Snakehips was able to bring out a plethora of special guests including Sinead Harnett (to sing “Days With You” and “No Other Way”), Malikka (to sing “Falling”) and Ruaury (to sing the “Cigarette Song” remix).

As if that weren’t enough, towards the end of their performance, Snakehips brought out some newly minted Grammy 2017 nominees: Anderson.Paak (to sing “Money on Me”) and D.R.A.M. (to perform “Broccoli”). They shut it down with “All My Friends”, making sure that everyone in the audience knew that the price of admission ($15) was the best deal they got all year.
