LOS ANGELES, CA- I like electronic music. I love electronic music when it translates well live on stage. I love KOLAJ.

Teesa Houston and and “Mighty” Mike McGarity are the core of KOLAJ, and their performance at Broke L.A., accompanied by a guitarist whose name escaped my memory right now, left me wanting more as soon as it ended. Each song contained sensually captivating sonics, and with Teesa’s delicately pleasing vocals floating above it all with strong melodic lines, it was hard to not fall in love with the indie electronic music that they performed.

This band has got something special. There was something about each song they performed that drew the audience with every beat. I think it all boils down to the essence of the songs; the melody that Teesa sings. It almost felt as if the musical elements that accompanied her lyrical delivery were organically arrived upon; as if each note in the instrumental grew from the melody.

Whatever the case, I’m hooked. I definitely want to see (and hear) more of them in the future.
