Have A Listen: Laura Jean Anderson’s “Full of X’s” PHOTOS: LAURA JEAN ANDERSON @ BOOTLEG THEATER 9/29/17
Los Angeles, CA- Later’s better than never, right?
Back in September, I covered Lauren Ruth Ward’s record release show at the Bootleg. I got to the venue early enough to catch the opening acts, but I hadn’t had the time to get anything up on those performances until now.
Truth be told, I was reminded of the fact that I had photographs of Laura Jean Anderson’s performance over the weekend while I was in Echo Park prior to covering another gig. I saw her posting up some fliers for an upcoming show at the Bootleg (12/8). I would have said, “Hi,” but I didn’t really know her and didn’t want to creep her out, but I decided to search my hard drive for those photos and listen to some of her music to re-acclimate myself with her music.
That’s when I found her track “Full of X’s”.
This track has some seriously good energy. I love the tempo, and the spitfire lyrical delivery presented with a clean, sassy vocal tone. I also love the way the Vampire Weekend-esque intro morphs in the a rockin’ little ditty that clocks in at a brisk 2 minutes and 22 seconds. The song is almost not long enough, which was evident to me with the number of times I had to replay the track.
This song came out over a year ago. But good music doesn’t get old, right? Better late than never!
