Los Angeles, CA- There’s a sensual vibe that Cannons possess, and a lot of that has to do with their lead singer, Michelle Joy. While it certainly doesn’t hurt that she’s easy on the eyes, it’s the presence she carries on stage which captivates. As the band performs the mellow, synth laden instrumentation behind her, it’s the way she coyly sings into the mic that gives the already dreamy music an extra layer of seductiveness that makes it all the more bewitching to watch.

And while I was particularly smitten by Ms. Joy’s performance, I don’t want to take anything away from the band’s musicality. A singer is only as good as the music that he/she sings to, and the band set a steady, funky groove throughout the entirety of their set. Each member was in a groove with one another, and you could definitely feel, and hear, that musical connection through camaraderie while they played.

If you are a fan of other local L.A. artists like Nite Jewel or Harriet Brown, you should take a flier on Cannons … especially if you are a lover, cause this band’s groove is music for lovers, for sure.
