Austin & SXSW Gets Introduced To The Scorpion Siren: Ms. Lauren Ruth Ward THOUGHTS+PHOTOS: Lauren Ruth Ward @ STUBB'S | SXSW 3/16/18
AUSTIN, TX- For most of our SXSW artist coverage, we’ll keep it relatively short and sweet. We have over 80 artists to cover, so cut us some slack! 😉 We’ll basically be formatting each post into two parts: (1) Why our contributor wanted to see this act and (2) what our contributor thought of the performance”. Easy peasy. If you want to learn more about the act, make sure you click through to their social media links to get in the know. You won’t be disappointed!
Why I Wanted To See Lauren Ruth Ward: Of all of the amazing recording artists in Los Angeles, there’s one that I just can’t seem to get enough of: Lauren Ruth Ward. In the past year, I’d seen her 8 times (including her popping up for the Texas Gentlemen’s set at Luck Reunion). When I found out she was performing an opening set for Keith Urban at one of my favorite Austin venue’s, I just couldn’t resist seeing her do her thing.
What I Thought Of Lauren Ruth Ward’s Performance: Well… unfortunately, because Keith’s management wouldn’t let writers with photography gear remain in the venue during performances, I only was able to catch 3 of Lauren’s songs, spending that time focused more on getting in-focus photos (from the soundboard) than enjoying her what I was allowed to hear. Thankfully, I get to see her do her thing in L.A., and thankfully, Austin got a little taste this dynamo of performance that is Ms. Lauren Ruth Ward.
