Echo Park, CA- I caught this band earlier this year at Echo Park Rising and their short 30 minutes set impressed me. When I found out they were playing an opening slot for The Aquadolls 11/25/17, I made it a point to get to the venue early enough to catch them again. Despite their bassist Maddie injuring her foot earlier in the day, they still played with that same youthfully energetic vigor that excited me the first time I saw them.
The music they played was a little more adventurous this time around. On one song, I felt like they were either jamming or experimenting on stage. It was loud and relentless and was pretty freaking impressive to see the young ladies- who are all under 21- lose themselves in the art they were creating.
A couple of days after their performance at The Echo, they dropped their first single, “Poets”. It’s a visceral cut that I not only highlights their kind of attitude and sonics but also has me excited about watching them evolve as they work on their craft over time.
