LOS ANGELES, CA- I don’t follow many TikTok accounts. Social media tends to be a blur of sameness, but every once in a while, you stumble across a band that feels different—genuine. For me, that band has been Penelope Road. I started following them a few years back, and what struck me from the jump was their unpredictability. One video would feature a charismatic soloist, and then the next? A different voice takes the lead. Then out of nowhere, a harmony-rich performance would knock me sideways.
Just when I thought I had their formula figured out, they’d switch it up. Their musicianship—tight, refined, and instinctual—was undeniable. These weren’t just kids having fun online; these were young men with real, generational talent. It was only a matter of time before someone big took notice.
And now, that moment has come. Penelope Road has officially signed to Warner Records, kicking off their major-label era with a brand-new single, “Out Tonight.”
While “Out Tonight” isn’t my favorite Penelope Road track (I still like “What Can I Do” more), it’s emblematic of everything that’s made me a longtime fan: earnest vocals, thoughtful instrumentation, and a clean, soulful groove. It feels like a love letter to the music they grew up on—hints of Hall & Oates, Steely Dan, and The Eagles shine through—but it’s filtered through their own contemporary lens.

The band—Max Moore (lead vocals/guitar), Charles Eastman (lead vocals/keys), Koan Roy-Meighoo (vocals/guitar), James Kopp (bass), and Anthony Smith (drums)—formed organically. Just five friends who happened to live on the same Atlanta street. That sort of origin story could feel cliché if it weren’t so clearly authentic. They dropped a self-titled EP last year that laid the groundwork for what’s coming now—a sound that’s only grown more sophisticated, more polished, and more emotionally resonant.
Now they’re hitting the road for their first national headline tour, with stops at iconic venues like Antone’s in Austin, The Troubadour in Los Angeles, and the Bowery Ballroom in NYC. And if that weren’t enough, they’ll also be supporting Lake Street Dive and Goose later this year in major amphitheaters.
The industry is already catching on. “There’s a distinct magic in the air when the five members of Penelope Road gather together,” said their manager, Lindsay Brandt. And Aaron Bay-Schuck, Co-Chairman of Warner Records, called them “an incredibly compelling live act… highlighted by their perfect harmonies and true musicianship.”
I’ve seen it too. I’ve heard it. And if you haven’t yet, “Out Tonight” is the perfect place to start. Because for Penelope Road, this isn’t just a debut—it’s the beginning of what we all knew was coming.
