Los Angeles, CA- There’s some exciting new electronic pop coming out of Denmark. The trio of Mads, Alex and lead vocalist Mette are Off Bloom, and there’s nothing “off” about them. Alex and Mads are producers whose beats will melt brains and with Mette wailing passionately over their instrumentals, they seem to be a match in electronica heaven.
Their highly infectious vocal melodies seamlessly meld together with the relentless underlying instrumentals, making every beat-drop that much more enjoyable to dance to. Their youth also plays to their advantage, as you can hear the “no fear” approach to the music they create, experimenting with, and taking chances on, an amalgam of sound patches and loops.
Mette, who is essentially the focus of the group insofar as the two gents were concentrating on creating the musical magic in the shadows, also demonstrated a “no fear” attitude as she performed. Whether she was jumping into the crowd and onto couches entreating the crowd to dance with her, or moving her body like a snake to the slithery beats her partners produced, or emoting a full range of emotions as she sang the more emotional songs, her live performance was captivating to watch.
For one of their first shows in the U.S., all I can say is that they left a very memorable impression. Given the right songs and the opportunity to perform to bigger and bigger crowds, I feel pretty confident that this trio will be attracting more and more attention in time. They seem primed to bloom, and it won’t be off.
