The evening at The Belasco commenced with an opening set by Cult of Venus, an enigmatic alternative artist hailing from New York City. Shrouded in mystery, Cult of Venus has captivated audiences with her hypnotic soundscapes and ethereal vocals. Her debut single, “Mountains,” released in 2022, introduced listeners to a blend of electronic and alternative elements, setting the stage for her distinctive musical identity. Her subsequent releases, including “Time Capsule,” further showcase her ability to craft immersive auditory experiences that resonate deeply with listeners.
Cult of Venus’s live performance was nothing short of mesmerizing. “I change shapes till I get what I want from you. It’s your game now, you’re mad that I learned the rules. I change shapes, I change shapes for you. I change shapes till I get what I need from you. We’re all snakes, but what else is a girl supposed to do. I change shapes, but you never do.”
