BROOKLYN, NY- Multi-hyphenate artist Finneas O’Connell, known mononymously as FINNEAS, recently wrapped up his exclusive, intimate album release tour this past Saturday at Warsaw Concerts. This tour celebrated his sophomore album, *For Crying Out Loud*, which dropped on October 4th, 2024.
FINNEAS opened the show with the title track and first single off the album, For Crying Out Loud, bringing out his long-time partner, muse, and music video co-star, Claudia Sulewski, on stage for a sweet kiss to start the show—the first kiss of the night! Warsaw Concerts is a historic venue among the Polish community. Modest in size, FINNEAS played an intimate and memorable show to a sold-out crowd filled with day-one fans, friends, and family. “For Crying Out Loud” is personally one of my favorite songs off the new album, and opening with it definitely got me—and the whole crowd—hyped. The sound of every fan singing the lyrics word for word in unison with FINNEAS was absolutely deafening. It was an amazing feeling and a barometer for what the rest of the show would be like.
FINNEAS is one of those rare and impressive artists whose live performances match the quality of their studio versions. I’d even go so far as to say his live performances exceed his studio quality because, in a live setting, you experience more of the musicality, rawness, and emotions that he shares with his bandmates and loyal fans. FINNEAS kept the energy high with “Cleats” and “What’s It Gonna Take to Break Your Heart,” complete with his swoon-worthy dance moves and guitar riffs, before slowing things down during the piano portion of his set. He played some fan favorites from 2019, like the ballads “Angel” and “I Lost A Friend.”
You could feel both the delicateness and loss in these songs, conveyed through FINNEAS’s raspy vocals and piano playing. He also performed “Family Feud,” another personal favorite of mine. Despite the title, “Family Feud” is a deeply moving track that paints a loving picture of the sibling bond—an older brother’s message to his younger sister. FINNEAS proudly dedicates this song to his sister, Billie Eilish. Billie is currently on her “Hit Me Hard and Soft” tour, and for the first time in her career, FINNEAS and their parents are not touring with her. The incredible and historic success that both FINNEAS and Billie have achieved in the entertainment industry is truly remarkable and well-deserved. Aside from the talent, hard work, and accolades, their success stems from something deeper, I believe—their relationship. Their sibling bond, their trust, and their respect for one another. That is why “Family Feud” cuts so deep; it is a poignant expression of “just the way it almost was, when it’s just the two of us” before fame.
As the show neared its end, FINNEAS took a moment to introduce his fellow bandmates on stage. It was clear that this group is more than just bandmates; they sustain real friendships off-stage and outside the recording studio. FINNEAS shared an anecdote about what his friend and guitarist, Ricky, proposed to him on the last night of the tour—which happened to be this show. The proposition was that FINNEAS and Ricky should kiss to signify the end of this mini-tour. Without missing a beat, they continued with the regularly scheduled set! Fans were thrilled to hear the next song, “Til Forever Falls Apart,” which is originally a duet between FINNEAS and fellow recording artist Ashe. While there wasn’t a special surprise guest appearance by Ashe, the audience did get a treat as fellow bandmate and pianist Lucy Healy sang Ashe’s part. With a song about strong friendships that don’t falter, the music built to a triumphant sound, and just like that, we came full circle as FINNEAS and Ricky shared a quick kiss, delighting the fans—the second kiss of the night!
FINNEAS closed out his set with “Let’s Fall In Love For The Night,” which was the first song I ever heard from him back in 2019, making me an instant fan, followed by his latest single, “Lotus Eater,” for the finale. FINNEAS is set to kick off his full *For Crying Out Loud* tour at the beginning of next year, so do yourselves a favor and buy tickets now! You can also check out FINNEAS’ latest project as he makes his television scoring debut with the Apple TV+ limited series “Disclaimer”, directed by Alfonso Curon, which is streaming now.
