Looking for something new to do on a Thursday night in the Twin Cities? Point yourself toward Robert Street.
On Thursday, Oct. 15, and again on Thursday, Oct. 29, NativeCare West St. Paul is hosting in-store events from 4 to 6 p.m. with MLLW, a maker of THC-infused sparkling limeades, iced teas, chocolates and candy. It is a chance to meet the people behind a fast-rising drink brand, inside a dispensary with a story of its own.
For anyone who has been cannabis-curious since Minnesota legalized adult use, this is about as easy and low-pressure an introduction as it gets.
A dispensary with history behind it
NativeCare is owned by the Red Lake Nation, and it has a claim few Minnesota shops can match. Its original store in Red Lake made the state’s first legal recreational cannabis sale on Aug. 1, 2023, the very day adult use became legal.
A compact between Red Lake and the state, signed by Gov. Tim Walz in December 2025, let the Nation open stores off the reservation. Thief River Falls came first in January. West St. Paul followed on March 20, 2026, becoming the city’s first cannabis shop. A Maplewood location on White Bear Avenue has since joined the family.
The West St. Paul store sits at the south end of the Ten Acres shopping center, near Robert Street and Mendota Road, next to Chuck & Don’s. NativeCare told the West St. Paul Reader it picked the spot because it is right where people already run their errands. Inside, the warm birch-wood displays feel more boutique than bodega.
The store carries Minnesota-grown flower, pre-rolls and edibles, much of it cultivated and packaged on Red Lake land. There is a bigger purpose behind the counter, too. Tribal leaders have said cannabis revenue helps fund projects like replacing aging water and sewer systems on the reservation.
Meet MLLW
MLLW, pronounced “mellow,” builds its whole brand around a simple pitch: life gets hectic, and everyone deserves a moment to unwind. The company says it is rooted in culinary expertise, and it shows in the flavors.
The headliners are the drinks. MLLW’s Sparkling Limeades come in strawberry, blueberry and cherry, and its non-carbonated Still Iced Teas come in sweet tea, raspberry lemon and an iced tea-lemonade half-and-half. Each can carries 10 mg of THC.
On the edible side, MLLW makes dessert-inspired chocolate bars, think key lime pie or cookies and cream, at a gentle 3.2 mg per piece. It also makes Moon Rocks, a THC-infused popping candy. The brand says its products are vegan and non-GMO, with organic ingredients and no artificial flavors.
Why it’s worth the trip
Minnesotans have been able to buy THC seltzers since 2022, yet plenty of people still have not tried one. An in-store event takes the guesswork out of it.
The MLLW team will be on hand to talk flavors, explain how a 10 mg can compares to a low-dose chocolate, and help newcomers find a sensible place to start. Seasoned shoppers get a direct line to the brand. Everyone gets to browse the shelves of Minnesota’s original tribal dispensary while they are at it.
There is a deal in it, too. MLLW products are discounted at NativeCare every day through the end of November. Shoppers who come in during the 4 to 6 p.m. event window get an even better price.
It also makes for an easy Thursday plan. Swing by after work, grab a four-pack for the weekend, and you have supported a homegrown, tribally owned business in the process. Miss the first date? There is a second one two weeks later.
