LOS ANGELES, CA-  For a band I had never heard before, DICE immediately grabbed me with “Loose Change.” There’s something incredibly breezy about this track. Not in a careless way, but in the way the song seems to glide forward with this youthful optimism that feels impossible to resist. The guitars shimmer, the rhythm bounces along effortlessly, and the vocals carry the kind of easygoing warmth that makes the entire thing feel tailor-made for late-night drives and impulsive decisions.

Lyrically, the song revolves around struggle, uncertainty, and taking risks even when you don’t have much to your name. The repeated line:

“Loose change is all that I got /

But I think it’s still enough to run,”

becomes the emotional centerpiece of the song. It’s simple, but that simplicity is exactly why it works. There’s something universally relatable about the idea of moving forward with barely enough money, barely enough confidence, and barely enough certainty, while still believing you’ll somehow make it through.

And honestly, it’s the repeated refrain of “Baby, I’ll pull through” that really hooked me emotionally. The song may technically frame itself around relationships and personal growth, but the feeling behind it stretches beyond romance. It feels like an anthem for young people trying to figure life out in real time. Trying to escape old environments. Trying to prove something to themselves. Trying to survive uncertainty while convincing themselves that better days are ahead.

What makes “Loose Change” work so well is that it never sounds weighed down by those themes. Instead, DICE package everything inside a bright, uplifting indie-rock framework that recalls the emotional rush of early Phoenix, Two Door Cinema Club, and The Killers records. There’s motion in this music. Freedom in it. Even the uncertainty feels exciting.

By the time the song reaches its final repetitions of “I’ll pull through,” it stops sounding like reassurance directed at somebody else and starts sounding like a promise to yourself. And maybe that’s why the track resonates so strongly. At its core, “Loose Change” understands something very human: sometimes all you really need is just enough hope to keep moving.
