It happened last month, but we couldn’t just let our photos of SWIMM performing at their inaugural “Love You Down Fest” at The Hi Hat just waste away … so here they are. How about them apples? We had to spend most of the day at Broke L.A., so we weren’t able to cover the earlier acts who performed at the festival, but we made it a point to leave Broke L.A. early to make sure we caught SWIMM perform.

There are a few reasons why a handful of Blurred Culture contributors (including myself) dig SWIMM. First off, they Chris (Hess), Adam (Winn) and company have some killer tracks. The bass-line of “Man’s Man”? That shit gets me everytime.

Second, everyone in the band is super personable and emotes this vibe that’s basically love incarnate. When they’re together, whether on stage or off, I always see them smiling at each other or locked in a prolonged, silent embrace. That type of energy, spawned from a communal pool of undeniable friendship, manifests itself well onto the stage, and fills the room.

It makes sense that they named their festival “Love You Down”…. that’s exactly what they do.
