The Big Pink.  If there is one “new” band that we could try to turn you on to, it’s The Big Pink. With recent opening gigs for The Kills and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, it’s pretty clear that we’re not the only ones who are high on this band’s sound. Spotting several fans in the audience  wearing The Big Pink T-shirts, it seems pretty obvious that the rest of the world is slowly catching on.

The last time I saw The Big Pink, it was close to midnight in a intimate, dimly lit setting. With a set time that coincided with he sun slowly setting in the west, their booming electro-rock sounds filled the festival grounds that seemed to force dusk to settle in. The fog machines also added to the dusk effect too.

Starting their set with the fan favorite “Velvet”, performing “High Times” off their latest release, and finishing it with their hit “Dominoes”, it was a performance that surely earned them some new fans. Watching Robbie, Mary and company interact on stage revealed a camaraderie and comfort on stage that was really fun to witness.

With a new EP coming soon, and a headlining gig at The Regent on the 16th, if you are in Los Angeles, there’s probably no better time to get in on a hot new act before everyone and their mother does.
