ECHO PARK, CA- Ramonda Hammer has been busy in the studio this year, and the band dropped the lead single for their upcoming EP of the same name, “Destroyers”, earlier this month. “Destroyers” musically embodies everything that made me fall in love with the band to begin with. From its dirty dissonent guitar licks which gives the tracks a heavy brood at the outset, eerie pixie like voices that swell into the chorus where Devin Davis grittily wails with gusto, baring her intense soul, this track is grunge in all its epicness.
They celebrated the release of the track with a gig at The Echoplex, which also kicked off a West Coast tour that will hit Harvard & Stone tonight (the 26th) and San Diego tomorrow. They brought all of the intensity of “Destroyers” to life and gave the intimate crowd a sonic barrage of distorted guitars that gloriously filled the room. As Devin sang, “I could destroy you, my friend, with just one phone call,” all I could think was that I’d gladly let this band destroy me as long as they keep writing bangers like “Destroyers”. I can’t wait for the EP.
The “Destroyers” EP is due August 4th.
