LOS ANGELES, CA- Model Child, is p/k/a of the LA-based songwriter and musician Danny Parker. While he has written for many pop-friendly recording artists like Marina of Marina & The Diamond, Shawn Mendes and Britney Spears, his solo project takes a decidedly darker path to catharsis.

His latest release, “Power“, with its brooding fuzzy guitars and pulsing beat, is as grunge as grange can get, lacking the typical pop-polish of songs like Shawn Mendes “Stitches” or Nich Jonas’ “Teacher”- both songs he co-wrote.

Of “Power”, Danny reveals a heavy theme, suggesting that it is a song that explores the nature of power dynamics in a capitalist American society:

“I think a lot of people feel helpless and powerless in our current political system. All of us are at the mercy of the people at the top and it doesn’t often feel like they have the best intentions for the greater good.”

Parker is currently working on new music and plans to release an album in 2020. We’ll be keeping an ear out to hear whether he continues with the heavier sound, or decides to sprinkle in some of that magic pop-pixie dust onto his own work.
