LOS ANGELES, CA-
“…Kicking off the night of music was the band Chase Petra. This trio from Long Beach, CA was new to me, but man, they left a solid impression on me, and I’ve been listening to their 2019 album Liminal on Spotify pretty much non-stop since I saw them perform
On Facebook, they describe their music as “Quarter-Life Crisis Pop Rock” and “a good ol’ fashioned mess” of “a couple college students making music and trying to survive”. Whatever their inspiration, I’m really digging it. Their music is frenetic, and at times stylistically unfocused (“Kind of, Maybe” and “Contractual” and “Laws of Physics” are really different kinds of songs), but I think Hunter Allen’s vocals timbre and delivery is the organic constant that ties it all together.
Their performance was a ton of fun as well, and you can tell that the three are close friends as the smiles on their faces permeated throughout the set. If these kids are suffering from any kind of quarter-life crisis, this dude sure couldn’t tell…”
