Lo Moon Touched Hearts And Warmed Bodies At The Teragram Ballroom [REVIEW+PHOTOS]

LOS ANGELES, CA- What can be better than a seductive, soul teasing synth-rock show on a rainy weekday in the City of Angels?

As all the cool kids got together at Teragram Ballroom for the alt pop trio MUNA, LA’s Lo Moon touched hearts and warmed bodies. This small band with a big sound is moving surprisingly fast in the competitive LA music scene. The trio’s debut album, produced by Chris Walla (ex-Death Cab for Cutie), earned these LA based Brits a deal with Columbia records and frequent spins on some of LA’s major radio stations. According to Walla himself, the upcoming album is “the soundtrack to his year”.

A little shy but very appreciative for the “early birds” who arrived despite the gloomy weather, the band brought back the best of dream pop, linking one composition to another with a sensually hazy ease. The tunes are Twin Peaks-esque, offering just the right amount of seductive mystery with every note.

Newly dedicated fans were charmed by guitarist Matt Lowell’s crooning, with every word an intimate confession. As Lowell announced the end of the cinematic set, a few rebels in the crowd grumbled discontentedly until the band engaged in the first chords of “Loveless”, a seven-minute bittersweet single with ghostly vocals that took the indie scene by storm last fall before departing the stage for the ladies of nigh, MUNA.
