GRiZ Exceeded My Expectations At Air + Style THOUGHTS+PHOTOS: GRIZ @ AIR + STYLE 3/4/18
LOS ANGELES, CA- While I may not be the biggest fan of DJ performances, I’ll have to admit that GRiZ performance at Air + Style was thoroughly entertaining. I had read on line somewhere that he has, in the past, utilized a full band at some of her shows, but when I arrived at the main stage of the festival, I didn’t see the stage set up for such a performance. Alas, my hopes that a live funk/jazz experience would be had would be dashed, and I anticipated that I would be relegated to seeing was a DJ simply spin jams behind a deck. This was not the case.
Assisted by Muzzy Bearr (I think), GRiZ’s performance was way more energetic and spritely that I could have imagined. Even without the comically amusing LED projections that splashed behind him on the huge screen, I would have been thoroughly entertained with GRiZ’s stage antics, from running back and forth across the stage beckoning fans to get hyped with him to jumping onto the top of his deck to pump out a saxophone solo. I found myself fully engrossed in not only his music but his animated performance, and to be honest, I think I would pay to see him perform again if the opportunity ever arose again.
